It's that time of the year again. Valentine's Day - the most prominent of all Hallmark holidays - is less than 2 weeks away and unless you live in a country where it's not celebrated, or in some remote place without shops, you must already be feeling the moral obligation to do something about it. You know the drill - plan a romantic evening, get a card and buy some chocolates for your Valentine.
Despite the vague origins of Valentine's Day itself, love still makes the world go around, and for that reason only, I think it deserves a day dedicated to it. Besides that, I am not the kind of person who would turn down an opportunity to celebrate and eat chocolates. No, sorry!
As a matter of fact, I've already started casting "love spells" around the apartment. Like this sweet little craft I made the other day.
It took only couple of hours to put together and cost nearly nothing!
If you'd like to give it a shot, here's what you'll need:
1. Tree branches
2. Double-sided coloured paper
3. Mini-sewing kit
For the base, I used a 2 dollar IKEA Vase and filled it up with coffee beans that my husband bought accidentally instead of ground coffee some time ago (turning negative into positive, anyone?).
How I did it:
I put the branches together using rubber bands. Then I traced hearts of different sizes on double-sided coloured paper using cookie-cutters, and cut out with scissors. Using a needle, I made a small hole on the top of each heart and passed the thread. Finally, I tied the thread together to form the hanger for each paper heart ornament and hung them on the tree. That's it!

This is so cute! As a kid we always had an Easter tree, but now I want one of these too! When we have more space (read: a place to put it that our boys won't break it/climb it/tip it) I'm making one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine! Easter tree sounds like a great idea too :)
