This weekend we got on the road again. On Saturday we drove
to Half Moon Bay, a coastal town 28 miles south of San Francisco. Half Moon
Bay is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, surf, camp, or chill on the beach
watching the waves.
Half Moon Bay is famous for its big and dangerous surf and Mavericks Surf Contest, which attracts surfers and big-wave enthusiasts from all around the world, was taking place this weekend.
The town is also known for its agriculture and, as you head down to the beach, you can see Christmas tree plantations and pumpkin farms on either side of the road. Shopping from the local farms was a fun experience and saved us a few dollars compared to what we would pay in the city for the same stuff.
On Sunday we headed further south to Big Sur to find stunning scenery...
...have lunch in dreamy spots overlooking the ocean...
...take Lonely Planet style pictures...
...and make sunset memories.
Big Sur is the kind of place you can't help but go like "wow, look at this!" every few minutes. Mountains meet beaches in one of the most unspoiled and scenic drives in the world.
In my case, it also makes me wonder how I am going to leave this place behind when the time comes.

Oh! I just love your breathtaking pictures wishing I could be there too!

DeleteBeautiful pictures. Lived in California til I was 20, and apart from one trip to Sequoia as a kid and a trip to Santa Barbara as a teen, never got very far up north. Too bad, really. Looks beautiful up there.

Beautiful pictures! I love Half Moon Bay. Especially in the fall :) Love the pumpkin festival!
ReplyDeleteWe took a sunset picture there, and ended up using it as a watermark on our wedding invitations. Best invites ever.
Thank you Sabrina!
